Father Collins Park, County Dublin.
Father Collins Park is located in Donaghmede, north Dublin. It was officially reopened in May 2009 and is owned and maintained by Dublin City Council.
The park was originally opened in memory of popular Roman Catholic parish priest Father Joe Collins, and had green spaces for walking, picnic areas, two playgrounds and 6 playing fields for a variety of sports.
The redevelopment, with a budget of 20 million Euro, started in September 2007, to a design by Argentinian architectural practice Abelleyro and Romero, and was completed in early 2009.
Father Collins Park has an area of 52 acres (210,000 m2). The redeveloped design make it Ireland's first "sustainable park" with five 50 kW wind turbines projecting from a central linear water feature, providing power for public lighting, maintenance depots and changing rooms.
The park has picnic areas with chess/draughts boards, a skate-park area, natural woodlands, an amphitheatre for outdoor events, and a 1.5 km running and cycle track.
