Description:
The National Museum has a collection dating from 7000 BC to modern times. Since 1998 the National Museum collection has been
split between the Kildare Street building and Collins
Barracks at Arbour Hill. Kildare Street has examples of Celtic and Medieval art
e.g. Ardagh Chalice and Tara Brooch
The Collins Barracks became in 1997 a museum of the decorative arts and of economic,
social, political and military history with exhibitions of
Irish Fashion since 1950, ceramics,
silverware, and furniture.
The Natural History Museum in Merrion Street houses an exhibition of
stuffed animals. On show are large skeletons of extinct animals and
fish which were native to Ireland
